This role is responsible for providing agronomic support to Driscoll’s growers in Northern Peru (Lambayeque/Olmos), focusing on cultural practices and new production systems. Additionally, the position will play a key role in the successful development of Driscoll’s new proprietary varieties through technical extension initiatives aimed at enhancing growers’ capabilities and technical performance, with the goal of improving their agronomic results.
Conduct regular field visits to Driscoll’s growers to understand their agronomic management and production cycles, providing tailored support related to new varieties, cultural practices, integrated pest and disease management, plant nutrition, and innovative production systems.
Monitor and document field activities (visit reports, variety guides, best practice manuals) to recommend improvements in cultural practices that optimize the performance of Driscoll’s new commercial varieties, ensuring their success and full productive potential.
Visit breeding and Applied Research test plots to learn about new varieties and sustainable management practices, incorporating this knowledge into technical extension activities with growers.
Identify and propose solutions to agronomic challenges by consulting with internal and external experts, utilizing best practice manuals, and leveraging technical expertise.
Participate in the organization of technical field tours, group workshops, trainings, and webinars to positively impact the agronomic performance (quality, yield, and profitability) of new varieties and promote the adoption of new production technologies.
Assess the technical capabilities and alignment of potential new growers and evaluate the suitability of new projects or locations for the establishment of Driscoll’s varieties, ensuring they meet quality, production, and export expectations for various business units.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or a related field.
5–7 years of experience in similar positions.
Previous experience as a technical advisor to growers is preferred.
Experience in the blueberry industry is a plus.
Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken).
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at various levels.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Planning and organizational capabilities.
Ability to work independently.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver’s license required.
Availability to travel.
