We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant for a location-based role at our farm, situated approximately 100km north of Perth. This position is hands-on and primarily based at the farm site, offering direct engagement with operational teams and activities.
As a Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining integrity across financial systems, and delivering meaningful insights to drive decision-making across the business. The role blends essential office-based financial responsibilities with regular, on-site involvement at the farm, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, real-world operational environment and enjoys applying financial acumen directly to farm operations
Key Performance Outputs
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with Australian Accounting Standards.
- Partner with Finance Manager and department heads to ensure accurate reporting, forecasts, and reporting packs.
- Support internal and external audits with clear documentation and audit trails.
- Ensure timely preparation and lodgement of tax and statutory obligations (BAS, payroll tax, ATO filings).
Reconciliation & Financial Control
- Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations (inventory, intercompany, accruals).
- Monitor multi-site transactions, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues through root-cause analysis.
- Review and correct general ledger allocations across departments, cost centres, and projects.
- Work with site and operations teams to ensure accurate system inputs and timely close processes.
Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
- Coordinate and participate in physical stock and asset counts, investigating and resolving variances.
- Reconcile inventory movements between farms and head office to ensure accurate reporting.
- Strengthen internal controls over inventory and fixed assets to reduce risk and loss.
Operational Finance Support
- Provide financial insights to farm and operational managers to improve budget discipline and cost control.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and management dashboards using operational and market data.
- Resolve purchasing, supplier, and creditor issues to maintain smooth operations and strong supplier relationships
- Monitor foreign currency transactions and exposure, supporting FX management and hedging decisions.
- Support ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) by identifying data issues and improving finance processes and configurations.
Minimum Education/Qualification/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (mandatory CA or CPA qualified, or currently enrolled and progressing toward certification (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a financial accounting or similar role
- Valid Australian driver’s licence
- Willingness to travel to farm sites within WA (day travel)
Functional / Technical
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, statutory regulations, and accounting practices.
- Experience in agribusiness or multi-site operational environments (advantageous).
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, lookups) and proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar) and MS Office.
- Excellent administrative, planning, and organisational capabilities. Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
